Affirmative Sentence (सकारात्मक वाक्य) :- A sentence which begins from subject and ends with fullstop (.) but it doesn’t include any negative words as – no, not, never etc. 

ऐसा वाक्य जो subject से प्रारंभ हो और fullstop से समाप्त होता है परंतु उसमें किसी भी नकारात्मक शब्द का प्रयोग न हो तो वह वाक्य सकारात्मक वाक्य कहलाता है।

Example :-

(i) I went to Delhi yesterday. 

(ii) I like playing hockey. 

Negative Sentence (नकारात्मक वाक्य) :- A sentence which begins from subject and ends with fullstop (.) but it includes any negative words as – no, not, never etc. 

ऐसा वाक्य जो subject से प्रारंभ हो और fullstop से समाप्त होता है परंतु उसमें किसी न किसी नकारात्मक शब्द का प्रयोग हो तो वह वाक्य नकारात्मक वाक्य कहलाता है।

Example :-

(i) He doesn’t like playing hockey. 

(ii) Ravi never tells a lie. 

(iii) I have no pen.

Affirmative Sentence को Negative Sentence में transform करने के कुछ प्रमुख नियम :-

Rule 1 – Adverb ‘too’ को affirmative sentence से remove करके भी को negative sentence में बदला जा सकता है।

Example :-

Affirmative – Ravi is too young to travel alone. 

Negative – Ravi is so young that he can not travel alone. 

Affirmative – Seema was too weak to run the race. 

Negative – Seema was so weak that she could not run the race. 

Affirmative – This question was too difficult for me to answer. 

Negative – This question was so difficult that I could not answer.

Rule 2 – Degree को आपस में बदलकर भी affirmative sentence को negative sentence में transform किया जा सकता है।

Example – 

Affirmative – My brother is as good as Ravi. 

Negative – Ravi is not better than my brother. 

Affirmative – Sachin is more famous than Dhoni.

Negative – Dhoni is not so famous as Sachin.

Rule 3 –  यदि affirmative sentence के वाक्य में only या alone शब्द का प्रयोग हो तो negative sentence बनाते समय वाक्य का प्रारंभ none but से करते हैं और only या alone शब्द को हटा देते हैं।

Examples :-

Affirmative – Only Ravi won the first prize. 

Negative – None but Ravi won the first prize. 

Affirmative – Alone Mohan went to Delhi. 

Negative – None but Mohan went to Delhi.

Rule 4 – यदि Affirmative Sentence का वाक्य As soon as से प्रारंभ हो तो Negative Sentence बनाते समय हम वाक्य का रूप निम्न प्रकार से रखते हैं –

Negative – No sooner + did/do/does/had + subject + …… + than + …..

Examples –

Affirmative – As soon as the teacher entered the class, the boys stood up. 

Negative – No sooner did the teacher enter the class than the boys stood up. 

Affirmative – As soon as I saw the lion, I ran away. 

Negative – No sooner did I see the lion than I  ran away.

Rule 5 – Opposite शब्द से पहले not का प्रयोग करके भी negative sentence बनाया जा सकता है।

Examples –

Affirmative – Mohan is a bad boy. 

Negative – Mohan is not a good boy. 

Affirmative – Ravi loves drinking. 

Negative – Ravi does not hate drinking.

Rule 6 –  कभी-कभी did not fail to/ do not fail to/ does not fail to/ will not fail to का प्रयोग करके भी negative sentence बनाया जा सकता है।

Examples – 

Affirmative – I will see you tomorrow. 

Negative – I will not fail to see you tomorrow. 

Affirmative – Ravi saw the Red Fort yesterday.

Negative – Ravi did not fail to see the Red Fort yesterday.
