Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favour fire.

कुछ कहते हैं दुनिया आग से खत्म हो जाएगी, कुछ कहते हैं बर्फ में। मैंने जो इच्छा का स्वाद चखा है अर्थात् मैंने जो अनुभव किया है इच्छा के बारे में
उससे मैं अग्नि के पक्ष में हूं अर्थात् मैं उन लोगों से सहमत हूं जो अग्नि रूपी इच्छा से सहमत हैं।

But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

लेकिन अगर इसे (दुनिया को) दो बार नष्ट होना पड़ा, तो मुझे लगता है कि मैं नफरत के बारे में पर्याप्त जानता हूं यह कहने के लिए कि विनाश के लिए (संसार के) बर्फ रूपी नफरत भी बड़ा है और पर्याप्त होगा।
